New Bins for Irrunytju!

It's school holidays in Irrunytju and our Enviromental Health Support Worker, Ron Barker has our kids busy painting new garbage bins for our community for a new clean up Irrunytju program. The bins say "Ngura Wiru Kanyyinma" (Protect our Land). The kids have painted them super bright colours and hope they will remind everyone to put their rubbish in the bins!

Pop-up Gallery @ Monte's Alice Springs

On 17th April, for one night only, we transformed Monte's, normally a bar and restuarant into a gallery for Ngaanyatjarra Media's new website launch party.

It was an exciting night for our friends at Ng Media and we were very happy to help them celebrate the re-branding of their organisation. Ten of our artists along with Irrunytju media workers travelled up to Alice Springs for the event which included enticing sneak peaks into the new Ng Media website, Turlku (sacred dancing by Inyika O'Toole and Roma Butler above), music and great food courtesy of the Monte's crew.

Check out the exhibition on our exhibtions page.

Revealed Perth 2013

Diane Dawson, Roma Butler and our centre manager Claire are just back from their adventure in Perth!

Diane was one of 35 artists selected to be exhibited as part of "Revealed - Emerging Aboriginal artists'  from Western Australia 2013".

The showcase began on Friday 13th April with a public symposium including: a presentation by our friends at Warakurna Artists on their History Project; a heated debate on regulation and the art market’s future and an inspiring talk by Perth Artist, Sandra Hill.

In the evening there was the opening of the Revealed exhibition at Gallery Central at Central Institute of Technology, Northbridge where Diane and Roma admired everyone's paintings and caught up with all their friends from far and wide. The exhibition goes till the 4th May so check it out if you haven't already!

On Saturday there was a one day market at the Perth Cultural Centre. A wonderful busy and creative vibe was created in the Urban Orchard with twenty Art Centre's from all over Western Australia displaying their varying works from painted mugs to bookmarks and bags, t-shirts ...and of course plenty of canvases.

On Monday and Tuesday Diane and Roma were hard a work in the creative workshops while Claire participated in the professional development program.

It was a wonderful week meeting up with other art centres being inspired by all their work and feeling proud of ours. We came back full of ideas and bursting with energy!
